Top 10 of 2010
December 28th 2010 09:18
I am going to follow Jason's lead and do a Top 10 of 2010.
Right off the bat I am going to explain that some of these movies may be recorded in the history books as 2009, but as I live in Australia and there seems to be a lag with when films generally get wide-released here I am including those which I personally saw as a new release during my 2010.
So no complaints . . . and on with the show.
1. Inception
2. The Social Network
3. Creation
4. The Last Station
5. A Single Man
6. Antichrist
7. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
8. Youth In Revolt
9. Easy A
10. Salt

I have not seen:
Creation, Last Station, Anti Christ, A Single Man, Youth in Revolt or Easy A.
Imaginarium didn't do much for me at all - found it visually impressive but all over the place and sloppy.
I thought Salt was one of the worst films of the year
Cool list - a few I must see now. I have been wanting to watch A Single Man for a long time.

Youth In Revolt was one I promised I see - but I suppose that's what the hols are for - so at the very least - the mere inclusion of the movie poster for it has prompted me.
Thanks for your posts throughout the year and I hope you won't be too much of a stranger in 2011 . . .

I'm all about movies that are like dreams, I'm a big dreamer.
I thought the storyline of Salt was good, and I think Angelina is an amazing stunt woman. I don't usually enjoy action that much, as a genre, but somehow she just sucks me in.
To be honest, in a single year it is hard to come up with a full ten.
A Single Man was so beautiful, hands down winner for queer movie of the year.
Hi MNG,
I am a mad Michael Cera fan, and there are two of him in Youth In Revolt.
I need to do more blogging. I really do enjoy it. Hopefully I will be around more next year. Hope all is well with you.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
(trying to sound like 007...ish..)
anyhoo, I completely disagree with Imaginarium, as it had several logic/plot downfalls and Inception got a little convoluted for me, or distended.
I am surprised A Single Man isn't first place, as that film was brilliant, particularly for a first time director, and worthy of an Oscar noimination, but because of the subject matter, probably will not get one.
I liked Creation, but felt it fell down because of the missed opportunity of revealing more about Darwin through the eyes of his kids and wife.
So, am I opinionated or what?
cheers and hippy hoo haaa for New Years!

It's just not blogging if someone doesn't spout an opinion, I love it.
The top five were particularly hard to order. I could be easily swayed to put A Single Man in top spot, it was truly beautiful.
I loved the internal conflict in Creation, and the smaller stories that interweaved with the main plot, such as the orangutan and "civilising" the native children.
Did you see any other must-see films this year?
